About
h.Index
A note from the founders
This platform started with a frustration. Every time a fund manager, a product team, or a journalist needed a real expert opinion, they'd exhaust their warm networks before finding the right person. Meanwhile, the actual domain experts — the people publishing in NEJM and presenting at AHA — were sitting just one PubMed search away.
The problem wasn't access to knowledge. It was infrastructure. Researchers had no dignified way to make themselves findable, set expectations, and get paid. Buyers had no way to verify credentials, manage compliance, or move fast. h.Index closes that gap.
We think the people who advance human knowledge deserve to benefit from it.
FAQ
Common questions.
How are profiles built?
We build an initial profile from OpenAlex, the open index of scholarly works: publications, citation metrics and research topics. The expert reviews it, chooses which topics to be matched on, sets a rate, and publishes. Experts verify a claim by signing in with ORCID; a claim whose ORCID doesn't match the profile's is reviewed by hand.
Who can see my profile?
Published profiles appear in search. Experts can set their profile to private at any time, which removes it from search.
How does pricing work?
Experts set their own rate for a 60-minute call; an expert who hasn't set one quotes each request individually. We charge a 10% platform fee, deducted from the expert's payout — never added on top. Buyers pay through Stripe, and only after the expert accepts.
What if an expert declines?
Nothing is charged — payment is only taken once an expert accepts. Experts can decline without giving a reason, or propose different terms instead.
